My dream of building my own studio has come to life!
As a professional photographer since starting my business 6 years ago, I’ve always thought about having my own studio, so I feel very lucky to be able to say I have achieved just that. With hard work and dedication, we can all achieve our goals in life. You just have to believe in yourself.
Throughout the years, I have been searching for the perfect space, but I couldn’t quite find the right one. Either rent was too high or it was out of my area. I wanted to keep it local, due to having so many loyal returning local clients.
This year we finally spotted a house for sale that had enough garden space to create exactly what I had been looking for, this is when it all became a reality (and a building site) so I could start planning my dream studio.
We moved on August 28th and began work straight away on the 6th September. By the 26th of October, the studio was complete and ready to welcome our first clients!
I didn’t want it to be anything extravagant, just a safe and comfortable space to be able to create what I love the most. I decided on 30 square meters, with a toilet and some storage space.
Not only that, but I wanted to create a bright and open space, so having some built in storage to hide all of the props was a must.
My studio has a wide choice of backdrops which are perfect when used with a strobe (photography light) or I can use natural light which gives very soft shadows.
To create natural light I’ve installed large patio doors with white sheer curtains, these are to diffuse the harsh natural light.
The studio can fit large families, perfect for those generation portraits.
Another must, was to insure it had a good quality air conditioning unit, which also acts as a heater to warm up the studio quickly, to allow a suitable temperature for newborns.
I also have a wide selection of props for newborns, so parents do not need to worry about bringing anything unless they would like a sentimental/favourite teddy etc. For maternity shoots, I have a selection of dresses and gowns.
I’ve worked tirelessly on this project, and I’m so pleased with the finished result.
I’d like to say a huge thank you to my amazing clients, with your demand and continued support I have been able to pursue my dream. Furthermore, I’m now able to create even higher quality portraits than before due to the extra space and light the studio has.
I look forward to welcoming all new and existing clients for a homely and fun experience in the new studio.
